When she graduated in 1992 Amanda Bossard began her research in marine biology at Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard started her journey working in the commercial seafood sector in 1999. In that year she worked in Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut vessel, later converted into a fish tender. Bossard and Aritan are now married and have come together to claim their place in their business. They are both proponents of preserving sustainable and renewable seafood resources. Otolith is a wholesale direct seafood retailer, was founded in the year 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia after having two young children. In 2007, Bossard mother to two kids Bella, age 3, and Andre 1, and returning to Philadelphia after a trip from Canada opened otolith as a direct-market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard as well as Isabella and Andre (ages 12, 10 respectively) return each year, from July to August in Southeast Alaska for the summer catch from wild salmon.
